Yumna Majeed: First Pakistani Woman Space Educator & Aerospace Ecosystem Builder

Yumna Majeed is a pioneer in Space Education in Pakistan. As a schoolgirl, she was told there was no place for her in space, so she decided to create it. In 2016, Yumna founded Exploration, a STEM organization focused on astronomy and space, to bring the wonders of the cosmos to Pakistani classrooms. Her space-awareness campaign, especially aimed at young women and girls, led her to become the first Pakistani to win telescopes signed by NASA and ESA astronauts in 2018. Yumna also collaborated with former NASA astronaut Nicole Stott, sending artwork from Lahore to the International Space Station (ISS). For her efforts, the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs has selected her as a representative for Gender Equality in Space. Currently, she runs Pakistan’s first Traveling Space Museum, offering stellar experiences to kids at schools across the country.

Yumna Majeed is a dedicated Space Educator and the visionary founder of Exploration, a pioneering STEAM Education organization with a strong focus on outer space. Since 2016, she has been passionately promoting astronomy and space technology in Pakistan, driven by her firm belief that every child deserves to have their space-related questions answered—a need often overlooked in traditional classrooms. Recognizing this gap, Yumna collaborates with various international space organizations to bring the wonders of the cosmos directly into classrooms across Pakistan.

Exploration, under Yumna's leadership, offers a diverse array of space-centered learning experiences designed to ignite curiosity and showcase the vast range of subjects and opportunities in STEM fields. Through her innovative programs, Yumna has successfully engaged over 18,000 students throughout Pakistan, inspiring a new generation of space enthusiasts and future scientists.

Yumna's commendable efforts have earned her numerous accolades, including the Pride of Pakistan Award and the prestigious Diana Award. Her outstanding contributions to promoting Gender Equality in Space have also been internationally recognized by the United Nations Office of Outer Space Affairs, underscoring her role as a global champion for inclusive space education.

In addition to her work in space education, Yumna Majeed is a Medical Lab Technologist, having graduated from Allama Iqbal Medical College in Lahore. Her background in medical technology further enriches her multidisciplinary approach to education, blending her expertise in science with her passion for space. Yumna's dedication and innovative spirit continue to make a significant impact, inspiring countless young minds to look up at the stars and dream big.
