Dubbed M27 in a famous catalog of nebulous sky objects made by the French comet hunter Charles Messier and nicknamed the "Dumbbell Nebula" this object is a curiosity. This glowing, apple-core shaped fuzz is the gas expelled from a dying sunlike star at the end of its normal life. It lies in the small constellation Vulpecula.
Distance = 1,300 light-years
